BOM Report

Bentley Coax provides the ability to generate and print a Bill of Materials (BOM) Report that includes an option to produce an address list of a selected area. This report can be generated to include all features extracted in a file, all features enclosed within a fence, all features which are connected downstream from a selected device, or all features affiliated with a given build state. Design BOM also supports multiple Coax Spec files.

There are three methods to generate a BOM report:

  1. Use the BOM Report command within OpenComms from the Utilities section of the Coax tab to generate a BOM from any area(s) that are extracted in an active file that is open.
  2. BOM reports can be generated outside of OpenComms using a Graphical User Interface.
  3. BOM reports can be generated from a command line for batch mode and scheduling (Using Windows Scheduler).

Generate a Design BOM Report on an Extracted Node

  1. From the Utilities section of the Coax Tab select the BOM Report command:

  2. This will open the following dialog box (fence options only available if a fence has already been placed):

  3. The Spatial Extent dropdown allows the user to perform a BOM with the following choices:
    • All - performs BOM on All extracted features.
    • Trace - performs a BOM on all downstream devices, beginning with the feature the user selects.
    • Fence - performs a BOM on all features in the user-defined fence boundary.
    • Fence Trace - performs a BOM on all upstream and downstream features from the selected starting feature, and is bound by the user-defined fence boundary.

The Trace and Fence Trace modes in the Design BOM will highlight the features that have been processed by the BOM report. To erase the trace lines, click the Tools > Clear Highlight menu item.

  4. The Build Status dropdown (See dialog below) allows the user to determine the features to be included in the BOM, determined by Build State status of the features. (See the following paragraph for the next menu item on the Edit menu for an explanation of setting Build States). The options of the Build Status are as follows:
    • All - performs BOM on All extracted features, regardless of Build State status.
    • Non-Zero - performs a BOM on extracted features whose Build State status is anything other than 0.
    • 0-10 - performs a BOM on all extracted features whose Build State status matches the number selected.
